Bear girl

I cannot believe that April is almost away. I woke up to a beautiful shiny wheather; perfect for some balcony gardening and biking. And the best is that we have four days free. I have so many plans for the weekend! But first of all I would like to post my newest project. I am excited to show you this little cap!
It seems this month I have had a baby hat series. My niece Lili is 3 weeks 'old' today and I have already made three beanies for her.  Tomorrow I am going to visit the baby and this little brown hat will be a gift for her.
I really love crocheting hats. Nowadays especially for babies; they are easy-peasy and the best thing is that just takes a few hours to make.

And here is the twist: this cap is versatile! I made a few bows into it, but haven't fixed them. So she (or her mum) can decide how to wear. Plus I will gave a piece of ribbon with it what they can slip into the treble row an tie a bow.

Size: newborn (this is a very tiny hat for a very tiny newborn. The width may fit to most newborn hat, but if you are crocheting it for someone, who was born with normal weight, make a few extra rounds after R8-11)
  • ch = chain
  • sc = single crochet stitch
  • hdc = half double crochet stitch
  • tr = treble crochet stitch
  • st = stitch
  • Crochet hook E
  • 1 ball Schachenmayr Micro (#00010 Kaffee).

  • first ch2 counts as one hdc

Ch 6 and join to a ring.
R1: 8 hdc into the ring (total 8 st).
R2: Ch 2 (count as first hdc) and make 1 hdc in the same st, 2 hdc into each sts. (total 16 sts)
R3: Ch 2, make 1 hdc in the same st, 1 hdc in next. *2 hdc, 1 hdc*. (total 24 sts)
R4: Ch 2, make 1 hdc in the same st, 1 hdc in next 2 sts.  *2 hdc, 1 hdc in the next 2 sts*. (total 32 st)
R5: Ch 2, make 1 hdc in the same st, 1 hdc in next 3 sts.  *2 hdc, 1 hdc in the next 3 sts*. (total 40 st)
R6: Ch 2, make 1 hdc in the same st, 1 hdc in next 4 sts.  *2 hdc, 1 hdc in the next 4 sts*. (total 48 st)
R7: Ch 2, make 1 hdc in the same st, 1 hdc in next 5 sts.  *2 hdc, 1 hdc in the next 5 sts*. (total 56 st)
R8-11: Ch 2 *1 hdc in each sts*. (total 56 st)
Note: if you want a higher hat, just make a few more rows.
R12: Ch 4 *1 tr in each sts*. (total 56 st)
R13: Ch 1 *1 sc in each sts*. (total 56 st)
R14-15: Ch 2 *1 hdc into each sts*. (total 56 st). Fasten off.

Ears (Make two):

Ch 6 and join to a ring.
R1: 25 tr into the ring.
R2: sc around. Fasten off.

Wish you happy crocheting!
